The Balance of Your Time

Time is a limited resource, isn’t it? Being a good manager of time reflects a devotion to God and an understanding of the purpose of your life. Jesus told His followers, “We must do the works of him who sent me while it is day. Night is coming when no one can work” (John 9:4). He was reminding them of the nature of time. It’s in limited supply, thus seizing every day’s potential is important. Perhaps the thought of that stresses you out, but keep in mind that Jesus valued all aspects of time including rest. It’s interesting to note that Jesus’ ministry lasted a mere three years, and yet He accomplished so many things! Never once do we sense a frenetic pace. Jesus knew how to make the most of His time while He also embodied a deep sense of purpose and serenity in the angriest of storms.

I hope you aren’t poisoning your time with trivial, toxic thoughts of your own wealth, vanity or scheming revenge. I hope you are in the moment, for this moment fashions eternity.

Lordship Generosity: Giving All to the One who Gave All
  • Who are the people that you will encounter today?
  • What kind of influence could you have in their lives?
  • How could you bless the people you meet today?

Jesus didn’t begin by starting a class, giving a reading assignment, or testing the depths of men’s spiritual potential. He began by simply saying, “Follow me.”
